Confusion over religion

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I apologise deeply to you all as I have not updated my blog in 2 months but I would like to carry on where I left off. The topic today is the confusion people have between Sikhs and Hindus.

Last week I took the courtesy of watching India vs New Zealand in a t20 warm up game. Was surprised to see a certain Yuvraj Singh playing after his treatment and looking forward to him showcasing his talent. While watching the game I had noticed he was wearing a necklace with an Om pendant on it. This immediately sprung to my mind and I questioned myself saying that if Yuvraj Singh is indeed a Sikh then why does he wear an om pendant? I had a discussion with others and some people had said that they wear it for show! To be patriotic etc but in my eyes to devote oneself to a religion you must follow it and not cross mix with it all.

I've even read when doing research online that in some Gurdwareh, they tried to put up idols of Hindu Gods to make it seem like we are from the same faith! Whether there is any truth in this I am not sure but please if you do know anything like this, let me know and spread the word!

India and it's pathetic democracy already label us Sikhs as Hindu's according to the constitution which seriously needs a revamp, I do not understand why other parties such as the UN do not get involved in this and give us the stepping stone to freedom that we crave for. I also hate being labelled as an Indian! Why would I want to belong to a secular group which ordered the mass genocide of my people in 84? Why would I want to be apart of that when they have been treating us worse than animals? Why would I want to be apart of a democracy that doesn't even recognise us legally for who we are?

I would like to conclude this short segment with a bold statement that I hope the government in India read! I AM NOT INDIAN, NEVER HAVE BEEN AND NEVER WILL BE! I AM A SIKH AND PROUD OF IT!

Am I overlooked because I am not an Amritdhari?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji I apologise for such a long absence in my blog updating, I have been rather busy this last month and will continue to resume my work from today.

I was sitting here wondering about the wonders of Sikhi and thought to myself that there is a key issue in our society. Divide between Moneh (hair cutting Sikhs) and Amritdhari Sikhs. I understand that to be an Amritdhari means your whole life is dedicated to Sikhi and you would adapt the appearence and lifestyle of a true Sikh warrior. I am currently a Mona Sikh, I do cut my hair although it is something I know I shouldn't do, I feel personally that I am not ready to take the step of becoming an Amritdhari Sikh.

Amritdhari Sikhs have the highest respect from me because they are the ones who show what a child of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj should look like and how they should live. But maybe it's just some that I may have encountered but I seem to see some Amritdhari Sikhs who exploit the whole meaning of being an Amritdhari. Some would say that they have seen Amritdhari Sikhs belittle the moneh saying you are not a Sikh your fake etc. To an extent I do agree with their viewpoint about that but instead of slating shouldn't they help us to become just like them? It is a dream of mine to one day become an Amritdhari Sikh because they are the people I look up to when I look around in society. I always think I want to be like them, but I feel at this moment in time I am not prepared to take that step.

The way I see it is that we are all children of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj whether we are moneh or Amritdhari because at the end of the day we are Sikhs. We have Sikhi running through our veins! But us moneh should aspire to one day become Amritdhari and live the life of a Sikh! Until then we need unity and not divide between Amritdhari and Moneh Sikhs as we are all Sikhs at the end of the day, Sikhi is in our heart and that's what counts. One day I aspire to become an Amritdhari but I would need help from the family as well as the Sangat in order to achieve the prestigious status one day.

This is how it should be, no divide just unity!

Short poem for 84!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji I hope you are all well. I thought about writing a poem in memory of 84 which would be easy to understand for all so here it goes.

To get basic human rights was our priority
They attacked Sri Harimandir Sahib to surpress a minority
They killed thousands of Sikhs just like you n me
But they dont understand that they will never kill Sikhi
They did things that you never thought some1 would do
murder, rape and even the beadbi of our Guru
But it was not only bluestar more follows
Such as operation blackthunder and operation woodrose
But the day will return where we lead our fight for freedom once more
To get basic human rights for the people of punjab, rich or poor
A day will come where we will have another leader like Sant Ji
To free us from the Indian shackles of slavery
Nothing has been done for us in the name of the law
28 years still no justice, never forget 84

I hope you enjoy my poem, I only had a short time to write this.

Never Forget 1984

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Jyo hope you are all well. I am sure you are all aware that these past few dates have marked the 28th anniversary of 1984 in which operation bluestar took place and the aftermath of the Dehli massacre, in simpler terms the attempted holocaust of the Sikhs in India.

Operation Bluestar was when the Indian Army by the orders of the tyranical leader Indira Gandhi were sent to Sri Harimandir Sahib in order to what they call 'flush out millitants' and to try and put a stop to the Khalistani freedom movement in which Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale had begun. I have written a more detailed blog about this so if you would like to learn more about operation bluestar please do read it. Furthermore I have written a detailed blog on the Dehli massacres of 84 as well so please do take the time to read both to gain a better understanding.

Now it is in my opinion, very important that we should never forget the injustices committed against us in 84 because we have not received justice for it. The desicration of Sri Akhal Takht Sahib by the Indian government still makes my blood boil to this day but I am not alone as I am sure you all feel the same. To burn the Sikh history library in the Sri Harimandir Sahib Complex again trying to wipe out our precious artifacts and history. The beadbi committed by the soldiers by shooting at Guru Granth Sahib Ji and desicrating Sri Akhal Takht, all gone without justice being served. Those innocent Sikhs killed in the Dehli massacre and in fake encounters. A generation of Sikhs were wiped off the face of the earth and still we have had no justice!

To ask a Sikh to forget about 1984 is like asking a Jew to forget about the holocaust during ww2. That fire still burns in each and every Sikh person's heart! 28 years and we still have no justice! You may be able kill a Sikh, but you cannot kill off Sikhi! Many of tried in the past and they have all failed!

Never Forget 84! Khalistan Zindabaad!

Guru Ram Das Ji

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Jyo I first of all hope you are all well. I will now carry on with the 11 part series of the Gurus carrying on with talking about our beloved 4th Guru of Sikhi, Guru Ram Das Ji (Ram Das means servant of God).

Guru Ji was born on the 9th October 1534 in Chuna Mundi Lahore in Pakistan. Guru Ji became a Guru at the age of 40 and lived until he was 47. Guru Ji's main focal points when he became Guru were that he became the author of Laava (marraige rites which are used in weddings even now!), The design of Sri Harimandir Sahib (The Golden Temple). He also planned and constructed the township of Ramdaspur which is now known as Amritsar and was also the created the organisation structuer of the Sikh society.

In Guru Ji's early years before being appointed Guru his name was Jetha (meaning first born). He had come across a group of Sikhs who were heading to Goindwal to pay homage to Guru Amar Das Ji. Guru Amar Das Ji had noticed that Jetha was very devoted and while the group had returned to Lahore, Jetha stayed with Guru Amar Das Ji and had become a disciple of his. Bhai Jetha would do countless hours of Seva and Guru Amar Das Ji was very fond of him. Guru Ji would arrange the marraige between Bhai Jetha and Bibi Bhani who was Guru Amar Das Ji's daughter.

Guru Ram Das Ji had created the second sacred pool in Ramdaspur (now known as Amritsar) as instructed by Guru Amar Das Ji and Pilgrims from everywhere would come to listen to and help the Guru with the work of the water tank. The holy tank would be given the name of Amritsar (meaning pool of nectar) and it was from this day forth that Amritsar would be the holiest centre of Sikhi.

Guru Ram Das Ji composed a beautiful bani called Laavan about the meaning of marriage to a Sikh couple – Effectively, the Guru defines a Sikh marriage in these 2 lines: "They are not said to be husband and wife who merely sit together. Rather they alone are called husband and wife, who have one soul in two bodies."

Guru Ji when it got near to the end of his human life, appointed his youngest son to become the next Guru. He would be known as Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Guru Ram Das Ji departed from his human form on the 16th of September 1581.
Our beloved 4th Guru of Sikhi, Guru Ram Das Ji!

I will talk about Guru Arjan Dev Ji, our beloved 5th Guru in the next part of the series.

Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Jyo hope you are all ok alive and well. I did say I would write about the 4th Guru today but I've put that on hold till tomorrow to talk about something that puzzles me in the present.

Dr Manmohan Singh is the current Prime Minister of India and yes he is a Sikh, I believe the first Sikh to be elected as president in it's history. We may think that is a good thing having one of our own as Prime Minister of a country which is meant to be our 'homeland' but I beg to differ.

Dr Manmohan Singh - Sikh by appearence
but is he a Sikh by heart?
This same person runs in the same political party (Congress party) that Indira Gandhi once was apart of when she was at the top. He must of been a young lad at the time of 84 so I am 100% sure he was aware of what she had done and what happened in the aftermath of Gandhi's assassination when a mass genocide of Sikhs across India was carried out so how can someone that is a Sikh be apart of the same politcal party that launched an attack at the heart of every Sikh worldwide when she ordered the army to attack Sri Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple)?

At first I thought when he was elected to be Prime Minister 8 years ago I believe, I was full of optimism and I thought finally Sikhs will get their fair say in India but this joke of a pm turned out to be the same as the rest of them. I thought that justice would be served under this new regime for the attack on his own people back in 84. I would of thought that our everlasting dream of Khalistan (Sikh independent state) would be achieved and he would be the man to give us our homeland from birthright. Again I was wrong!

I believe he is a prime example of the corruption that India is well known for. He has done nothing for us in India! He hasn't even visited Shaheed Jaspal Singh's family or issue an apology to the family to them because it was HIS police that killed the young innocent man. Sikh by appearence but is he Sikh by heart?

Largest Democracy in the world? Please give it a rest, you have done nothing to change the corruption in India and you have successfully lost our trust in you.

India - killing off the minorities and bringing injustice to the millions of minorities who live there.

Please watch this interesting video by Veer Ji Sarbjit Singh who talks about the Prime Minister in depth, a great watch! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=luI1U91s4MA&feature=g-all-s

Guru Amar Das Ji

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Jyo hope you are all well. Today is the 3rd part of the 11 part series. I will talk about Guru Amar Das Ji, 3rd Guru of Sikhi!

Guru Amar Das Ji was born on the 5th May 1479 and was given the title of Guru on the 26th March 1552. Guru Ji was the eldest in his family and had a father who owned a shop in the village of Basarke near Amritsar. Guru Ji when he aged, eventually got married to Mata Mansa Devi and had four children 2 sons and 2 daughters. One of his daughters, when she got older, married Bhai Jetha who would become the fourth Guru, Guru Ram Das Ji.

Guru Ji did not become Guru till the age of 72 and would follow in the footsteps of Guru Angad Dev Ji. Guru Amar Das Ji took up cudgels of spirituality to fight against caste restrictions, caste prejudices and the curse of untouchability and also strengthened the system of Langar (free food) by ensuring that anybody whether they are rich or poor, sick or healthy all eat together in one place which eventually would be known to modern society as a Langar Hall.

Guru Amar Das Ji had also created the Anand Karaj marraige ceremony for Sikhs to follow when they get married instead of using the Hindu form which recently has now been passed in India as the Anand marraige act!

Guru Ji also abolished the acts which were done by Sikhs in those time. They were called Sati (burning to death of the wife at the husbands funeral) and Paradha (covering the face of a female with a veil) in order to show equality amongst Sikh men and women.
Our iconic third guru of Sikhi, Guru Amar Das Ji

Tomorrow I shall speak about our 4th Guru, Guru Ram Das Ji!

Guru Angad Dev Ji

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Jyo first of all I hope you are all well. Secondly I would like to apologise for me not updating my blog, I went home for the weekend and so many last minute things had come up I had not found the time to carry on with my 11 part series. Today I am going to talk to you about Guru Angad Dev Ji - 2nd Guru of the Sikhs!

Guru Angad Dev Ji was born on the 31st March 1504 in the village of Sarae Naga, Muktsar, Punjab. In 1538, Guru Nanak Dev Ji had chosen Lehna (his name before being appointed Guru) to take over the Guruship rather than one of his own sons. He continued to work hard on the foundation of Sikhi that Guru Nanak Dev Ji had left, he had taken Sikhi into further depths just as Guru Nanak Dev Ji would of wanted him to.

Guru Ji was married and had four children (2 sons and 2 daughters). The whole family had left the village after attacks from the Babar army and found refuge which enabled them to settle down in a small village located 25km away from the holy city Amritsar.

Guru Angad Dev Ji was a disciple of Guru Nanak Dev Ji for many years after being wowed by Guru Nanak Dev Ji's kirtan which still rang in his mind. He therefore became devoted to Guru Ji which lasted 6 or 7 years. On 7 September 1539 Guru Nanak Dev Ji had renamed him to Angad and had ensured that he would be the next Guru of Sikhi.

Guru Angad Dev Ji had invented the Gurmukhi scriptures which are still read to this very day and shall remain to be read until the end of time! It gave the people who spoke this language an identity of their own, enabling them to express their thought directly and without any difficulty or transliteration. The institution of Langar which was first started by Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Sacha Sauda Gurdwara in Pakistan was still running and developed further under the guidance of Guru Angad Dev Ji. The Guru's wife personally worked in the kitchen. She also served food to the members of the community and the visitors. Her devotion to this institution finds mention in Guru Granth Sahib.
Our iconic 2nd Guru of Sikhi, Guru Angad Dev Ji

I will speak about the third Guru, Guru Amar Das Ji tomorrow.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I hope you are all well Sangat Jyo. Today I wanted to bring to your attention the Gurus of Sikhi! It is vitally important that each and every Sikh should know the Gurus who created and forwarded our beautiful religion. As part of a 11 part blog entry I will begin with Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru of Sikhi.

1. Guru Nanak Dev Ji - Born in the year if 1469 (same year as the birth of Sikhi) Guru Nanak Dev Ji was our first Guru. He was born in the village of Talwandi which is now known as Nankana Sahib which is located near Lahore. Guru Nanak Ji was always fascinated by God even at a young age. He would not take part in rituals that had been originated by Islam and Hinduism at the time but opted to meditate for large parts of the day being spiritually connected with Waheguru Ji. Guru Nanak Dev Ji introduced the three pillars of Sikhi. They were:
Naam Japna Guru ji led the Sikhs directly to practise Simran and Naam Japna – meditation on God through reciting, chanting, singing and constant remembrance followed by deep study & comprehension of God’s Name and virtues. In real life to practice and tread on the path of Dharam (righteousness) - The inner thought of the Sikh thus stays constantly immersed in praises and appreciation of the Creator and the ONE ETERNAL GOD Waheguru.
Kirat Karni He expected the Sikhs to live as honourable householders and practise Kirat Karni – To honestly earn by ones physical and mental effort while accepting both pains and pleasures as GOD's gifts and blessings. One is to stay truthful at all times and, fear none but the Eternal Super Soul. Live a life founded on decency immersed in Dharam - life controlled by high spiritual, moral and social values.
Vand Chakna. The Sikhs were asked to share their wealth within the community by practising Vand Chakna – “Share and Consume together”. The community or Sadh Sangat is an important part of Sikhism. One must be part of a community that is living the flawless objective values set out by the Sikh Gurus and every Sikh has to contribute in whatever way possible to the common community pool. This spirit of Sharing and Giving is an important message from Guru Nanak.

History states that he made four great journeys, travelling to all parts of India, and into Arabia and Persia; visiting Mecca and Baghdad. He spoke before Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Parsees
, and Muslims. He spoke in the temples and mosques, and at various pilgrimage sites. Wherever he went, Guru Nanak spoke out against empty religious rituals, pilgrimages, the caste system, the sacrifice of widows, of depending on books to learn the true religion, and of all the other tenets that were to define his teachings. Never did he ask his listeners to follow him. He asked the Muslims to be true Muslims and the Hindus to be true Hindus.

Nankana Sahib is where Guru Ji was born and lived in his days of his youth. The area consists of 7 Gurdwaras each having something amazing about Guru Ji. I have visited each and must say I felt blessed to have been in a place where our Guru Ji once walked, ate, breathed and lived.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji breathed his last breath in Kartarpur (City of God) in 1552. His followers who were from both Hinduism and Islam could not decide what to do with Guru Ji's body and therefore covered his body in white cloth and laid flowers.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Our first beloved Guru.

Guru Angad Dev Ji was the next Guru in which I will write about tomorrow.

A poem/song written by myself

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji I do again apologise for a long delay in my blog updates. I have had no internet access for 4 days but I am back and running. Please do read this poem/song that I have written and let me know what you think of it.

Bhai Balwant Singh a lion of our nation

Another leader to build on the Khalistan foundation

As the call for Khalistan has grown

This brave lion united the panth on his own

Locked him away for 17 years

When you look into his eyes there is no fear

You locked him away for the killing of the Cm of Punjab

Beanta was a tyrant, his soch was so kraab

He killed innocent sikh men women and youth

Yet the indian government will not reveal the truth

We want justice for your inhumane deeds

We want our people of the  khalsa panth freed

The ones you’ve kept in jail torturing our sisters and brothers

Fathers, cousins and mothers.

The indian government thought it was ok to desecrate Sri Akhal Takht Sahib

We ask for justice and get no jivaab (answers)

Sant Ji said under the indian government we will always be apart of slavery

He started the movement, now its time we became free

The time for Sarbat Khalsa is here

We are Sikhs we have no fear

We need to free ourselves from these dark days

Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana will lead the way

To a place where no Sikh will be led astray

Where we shall go to gurdwara bow to our Guru and receive parshaad

To our sacred homeland. Khalistan Zindabaad!

Operation Blackthunder

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji I hope you are all well. Today I would like to bring operation blackthunder to your attention as this is very rarely spoken about.

Operation Blackthunder was the second time the Indian government had orders to storm the Sri Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple) complex in order to flush out what they called 'militants'. On the 12th May 1988 they stormed the complex killing innocents once again, although the casualties were not of the same scale, the fact that they stormed our sacred shrine for a second time is despicable. The Indian government were so distraught at the fact that Sikhs had rebuilt the Akhal Takht and gained control of Amritsar once again that they thought it was their duty to flush us out, again just like in 84, for no apparent reason. The government feared us!

The corrupt Indian government even went to the lengths of building a replica model of the Sri Harimandir Sahib complex in Haryana for the training of the special action group from the National Security Guards (NSG) which would be used on a weekly basis in preparation for the attack.

Rajiv Gandhi tabled eight of eleven meetings regarding Operation Black Thunder. Home Minister Buta Singh and Minister of State for Home P. Chidambaram were in support. After the green light was given Air Force airlifted Special Action Group (SAG) of 1000 commandos of National Security Guards (NSG) and their equipment to Amritsar on May 11 and 12.

The killing of militants by security forces outside the temple was supplemented with selective killing inside by the infiltrators. For example when of all the people were inside, Jagir Singh - a senior person who was the spokesman of the Panthic Committee came out of room 14 to fetch a pail of water from the holy tank he was shot in the back of the head, obviously from inside the building. Mortally wounded his body fell to the pavement near the sarovar.
On May 15 in response to an appeal by Inspector General (Border) Chaman Lal and Deputy Commissioner Sarabjit Singh to surrender, 151 persons including 17 women and children came out with their hands and weapons in the air.

KPS Gill was also involved in Operation Blackthunder a fellow Sikh, betraying his own people to follow a fascist government who's idealogies included an all Hindu country regarding minorities as Hindus too.

Sangat Ji, the reason I have brought up these operations that were carried out by the Indian government were because we need to understand that we should never forget what happened in our past! We need to educate the youth so they know what kind of injustice has gone on to us as a nation. We as Sikhs shall never give in to the Indian government, we only bow down to Sri Guru Granth Sahib Maharaaj. United We Stand! Never Forgive, Never Forget!

Our everlasting fight for freedom!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji I hope you are all well and I do apologise for not uploading any blog posts for the past week as I have been restricted of internet access due to a line connection failure at home. I wanted to talk about our fight for freedom and how long it has been going on since.

The 10 Guru's of Sikhi! Fought for our freedom!
In 1469 Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born, thus creating the birth of Sikhi and this had continued with the blessed 10 Guru Ji's to progress Sikhi further. Guru Gobind Singh Ji ignited the birth of the Khalsa Panth giving us the names 'Akal Purakh de fauj' which means the army of God. He initiated that every Sikh man should have their middle name as Singh which has the definition of Lion, and every Sikh woman should have the middle name Kaur which means princess.

Even the Guru's fought for rights like we do today! Guru Arjun Dev Ji was burned on a hot plate alive by the Mughals fighting for the rights of the people! Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded fighting for the rights of a different faith (believed to be Hinduism) against the Mughal empire. Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his sons the Char Sahibzade (four sons) fought in countless battles against the Mughal empire for the rights of the Khalsa Panth. Baba Deep Singh, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur they too fought for the rights of the Khalsa Panth!

Fast forwarding to current times, in the 1970's and 80's Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale fought for the rights of Sikhs in India and let a movement so powerful that the Indian government feared us. Just like the Guru's led a movement, just like Baba Deep Singh and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur led the movement they were all feared by tyrants and enemies who tried to put a halt to it all. But as you see now we are still standing here, proud of our history, proud to be Sikhs.

Fast forwarding slightly more, Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana fought for the rights of Sikhs when he conspired with Bhai Dilawar Singh to kill a tyrant! Bhai Jagtar Singh Hawara also has done the same! These people we see today are our freedom fighters just like we have had in the past, these are our present freedom fighters. The news about Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana sparked a global outcry for the injustice to Sikh human rights in India, The Kesri revolution has begun, it is now our time to take this fight for freedom forward. We have our leader in Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana who is the spearhead for our fight for freedom, now we must do our bit Sangat Ji for the freedom of Sikhi, for the freedom of a nation. Raise the Kesri Chundeh high, be proud to be a Sikh and create the unity we so very much lack in order to win this fight for freedom. Our time has come Sangat Ji lets not fade away now! Below is a video from our brother Sarbjit Singh who does Rajoana TV, he explains this very well please do watch this!

Inspirational people of Sikhi - Mata Bhag Kaur

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Hope you are all well Sangat Ji, I thought today I would talk about another one of our inspirational people in Sikhi and give my blogs a bit of happyness, It is important to remember our negative past but also vitally important to remember our positive past too.

Mai Bhago, a truly insprational woman of Sikhi!
Mai Bhago also known as Mata Bhag Kaur was a Sikh woman who led Sikh soldiers against the Mughals in 1705. She killed several enemy soldiers on the battlefield, and is a saint warrior by the Sikhs. She was the sole survivor of the battle of Khidrana, i.e. Battle of Muktsar (fought on 29 December 1705); was a daughter of Bhai Mallo Shah, granddaughter of Bhai Pero Shah, the younger brother of Bhai Langah, a Dhillon Jatt Chaudhary of 84 villages who had become a Sikh during the time of Guru Arjan, the fifth Sikh Guru. She was the only sister of four brothers.
She had also set out during battle to find the Chaali Mukta ( 40 liberated men) who had earlier deserted Guru Gobind Singh Ji during a battle that took place at Anandpur Sahib. She persuaded them to find Guru Ji and apologise for what they had done. They pleaded to Guru Ji to reinstate them as Sikhs which Guru Ji humbly accepted ensuring that they rejoined the Khalsa Panth.
Mai Bhago led the Chaali Mukta to battle knowing that death would be upon them as they took on 10,000 Mughal soldiers! However they inflicted so much damage to the 10,000 strong army that they had to retreat in the nearby woods. All the Chaali Mukta had died from their wounds except one Mahari Singh, who died in Guru Ji's lap, but before dieing he looked up at Guru Ji and requested that the letter they had written to say they are not Sikhs to be ripped up and for Guri Ji to forgive them all, which he did.
Mai Bhago was such an inspirational character in Sikhi that she led 40 men against a 10,000 strong army and still managed to force them to retreat, truly inspirational! The women in Sikhi had a huge role to play in our proud history as well as the men and I for one am proud of our history and proud to be a Sikh! Just remember people like Mai Bhago died for the sake of us, for the future of Sikhi and we should never forget the martyrs of Sikhi!

Have you forgotten about Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Have you forgotten about him?
Sorry for such a delay in my blog posting, I have been fairly busy the last week or so but now have the time to resume my blog posts. I have a question for you all Sangat Ji, Have you forgotten about Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana?

It seems to me that people are forgetting about Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana quicker and quicker by the day. Where I live back home in the Midlands, I saw unity! I saw orange everywhere, Kesri Chundeh on cars, outside homes flying high and proud! Protest rallies for the release of Bhai Balwant Singh Ji. We are now into May and I have seen a huge decrease in the movement. People have started taking their flags down from houses, removing them off cars, not pledging orange. Why?

This is the problem we have as a community, we gain momentum from movements such as this, but we lose it once we have a piece of good news, which to be quite honest isn't all that great. Bhai Balwant Singh Ji is still in prison! Only half the job was completed with the stay of execution meaning that it has been postponed till further notice. But what did we gain from that?  We managed to give Bhai Balwant Singh Ji time but the fact of the matter is he is still in jail. For all we know the government could execute him tomorrow! We should not rest until he is released from jail! Only then can we move forward as a nation which is in desperate cry for a leader! Bhai Balwant Singh Ji has the qualities of a leader, he can take us forward just like Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale did in the 80's. People such as these two iconic figures only appear as one in a million type of people.

I urge you all Sangat Ji to jump back on to the IPledgeOrange movement! to fly the Kesri Chundeh high from your homes once again! Fly them from your cars once again! Wear something orange, keep up this momentum and create an awareness. Recently I have bought an IPledgeOrange wristband of Ebay for the small sum of £1. I purchased an Iphone case with Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana's face on there to keep up the awareness! Shere Punjab in Bham were selling Rajoana t shirts in orange, Derby sangat were selling Release Rajoana t shirts. The movement is here, don't lose the momentum Sangat Ji, build on this. Our time has come for unity, we must stay focused on our long term goal which is to achieve Khalistan! (The Sikh homeland).

Operation Woodrose

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji I hope that you are all well. Sorry for the late blog entry but I have been very busy today, although now I am free I wanted to bring to your attention something which is very rarely discussed with regards to the events of Sikh history. Operation Woodrose.

Innocent Sikhs murdered during Operation Woodrose,
On the left a young boy! This is the work of the 'largest democracy
in the world'!
Operation Woodrose was known to be another military operation carried out by the Indian government during June-September 1984, the aftermath of Operation bluestar. There was one sole purpose for Operation Woodrose and that was to kill any Sikh man/boy. These were the orders given by the government to flush out what they call 'terrorism' and this was done by arresting, interrogating and I use that term loosely, and murdering these men/boys. Now somebody please care to explain how boys as young as 5 or 6 years old can be labelled 'terrorists' when they are just infants? Also someone please tel me, when we have not committed any terrorist crimes, why are we being labelled as terrorists? Innocent men and boys were killed across the Punjab, with the death toll rising into the thousands!

Have a guess who was the spearhead for this operation? That's right KPS Gill, a so called Sikh led this operation against his own kind. A tactic that the police would use in order to mislead the public of India is that they would make the death of some if not all Sikhs look like battle encounters when in reality the police would kill them, then place a gun next to the body in order to create a fake encounter. What they would do is firstly order the Sikh man or boy to run for their life while pointing a gun at them, once they started running they would shoot them on sight making sure they are dead. Then they would place a gun next to the dead body making it seem as if it was an encounter. They did this on a number of occassions with Sikhs. Furthermore the police were known to of raped many Sikh women during this operation with countless Sikh women having to endure the pain and suffering of rape not knowing that their husbands or sons were alive or not.

Another thing that the police and Indian government had done were cremate the bodies of murdered Sikhs at these private cremation grounds. They claim that they had not used this but studies by Jaswant Singh Khalra proved that in Punjab they were using over 50 cremation sites. Thousands of dead Sikhs were taken here to be cremated, evidence destroyed and all this would of been done without the families of the Sikh men/boys knowing what went on.

50,000 Sikhs were killed, Still no justice! Attack on our most Sacred shrine, desicrated by the army, Still no justice! Countless Sikh women left widowed and raped by the police, Still no justice! The Singhs and Singhnia locked up in prisons across Punjab for no apparent reason, Still no justice!

Sangat Ji it's time to wake up, we have gone too long suffering at the hands of the Indian government with generations of Sikhs murdered, innocent Sikhs being locked away in prison just for being Sikh. We need to unite together to really put pressure on the Indian government for justice, for freedom, for peace for the families who lost a loved one at the hands of the tyranny of the Indian government, we must do this worldwide! We are the Khalsa Panth! United we stand, Divided we fall!

Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji would just like to wish you all a good afternoon and hope that you are all well. My blog updates lately have been on the negative history regarding our community but today I've decided that I would write about a man who brought positivity to the Panth in the late 70's and 80's. Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale.

Sant Ji was born in the village of Rode, Malwa, Punjab. His father, Joginder Singh, was a farmer and a local Sikh leader and his mother was Nihal kaur. Jarnail Singh was the seventh of seven brothers and one sister. In 1965, Sant Ji had enrolled into the Damdami Taksaal (a religious school where Sikhi is taught to a very high level) in Moga, Punjab. Kartar Singh who was head of the Damdami Taksaal knew that Sant Jarnail Singh Ji was something different from the early years and quickly had become the favourite student of Kartar Singh. Kartar Singh had a fatal accident and could no longer continue his role as head, so he passed on the torch to Sant Ji who became head of the Damdami Taksaal.

As he grew older, he took the role of spreading Sikhi peacefully across Punjab. His aim was to bring those who were lost into the abyss of alcohol, drugs and laxness in religious practices such as cutting hair and eating meat back to Sikhi. Sant Ji would go from village to village, leaving a powerful impact amongst the ones who he would speak to about bringing them back to Sikhi. Many had left behind the life of drugs and alcohol and came back to Sikhi because of this great man.

Sant Ji giving a motivational speech to thousands of Sikhs in attendance,
this is the sort of effect he had on Sikhs in Punjab, amazing!
Sant Ji was also the spearhead of the Khalistani movement in the 80's although saying he had not demanded for Khalistan but he was a very firm supporter for Khalistan (A Sikh independent state). With many if not all Sikhs in Punjab giving them his support the fight for Khalistan had begun. He was quoted saying very famously to the Indian government "if the Indian Government invaded the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) complex, the foundation for an independent Sikh state will have been laid." This is exactly what happened as the Indian government ordered operation bluestar in order to put a halt to the Khalistani movement. Why? you may ask..quite simply because the Indian government feared Sant Ji, he was a very powerful figure in the Khalsa Panth, had the support of thousands if not millions of Sikhs worldwide!

Although it is not absolutely 100% confirmed the government claim that during operation bluestar, Sant Ji had been killed in action thus making him a Shaheed (martyr) of the Panth along with the other brave lions of the Khalsa who died fighting for the freedom of Sikhs! Some claim that Sant Ji is still alive and well and when he returns he will reactivate the fight against the government once again in order to free ourselves from the shackles of the Indian government.

What we would give to have Sant Ji back amongst us again, Sant Ji was a very powerful man who had made speeches which would move an entire village, bringing them back to Sikhi. Some may label him as a terrorist which he is not! But in the eyes of millions of Sikhs worldwide he is a Sant! (Saint) A lion of the Khalsa Panth! A Hero! We could say that in today's climate of the Sikhs fighting for justice and Khalistan that Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has come in another form similarly to Sant Ji after all they have both done what many have either failed or just not bothered to do. Unite the Sikh Panth worldwide! We need more people like Sant Ji and Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana in our Panth, inspirational leaders to take us on to the path of justice and freedom!

My dream about Khalistan!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Sangat Ji, first I wish you all a good morning and hope you are well. I had the most amazing dream last night out of the blue, maybe it is a sign of things to come! My dream was of Khalistan (Sikh homeland).

As I fell asleep late last night, in my dream the first thing that appeared to me was that i was no longer in England as everybody was speaking punjabi, there were roads just like how they are in India, there was farms with crops stretching to as far as one can see, Could hear beautiful kirtan (Sikh Hymns) going on from the gurdwara via loudspeaker echoing throughout! but the thing that stood out for me the most was everybody was wearing orange! I was amazed at how this dream had come about and it made me wonder this morning if this was a sign of things to come!

The Kesri revolution has arisen with millions of Sikhs pledging orange, showing the colour of the Kesri Nishaan Sahib on cars, outside homes, people wearing orange to create an awareness, it is simply an amazing sight to see. We finally have unity amongst each other, something which hasn't been done since the time of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale arguably the greatest Sikh leader of all time! Bhai (brother) Balwant Singh Rajoana has united the Khalsa Panth once more and with this unity we should carry on the Khalistani movement! We should put pressure on the Indian government to give us what is rightfully ours, an independent state for the Sikh nation! The pakistani's have Pakistan, The hindus have Hindustan, now it is our turn to free ourselves from the shackles of slavery put on us by the Indian government and finally establish a Sikh homeland which we can actually call our home! Keep pledging orange Sangat Ji, keep this unity strong, we are the Khalsa Panth, we must fight for our freedom and win! Khalistan Zindabaad!

Grooming, Blackmail and Conversion!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

The Sikh Awareness Society have done amazing seva in regards to this, please do watch the link below click on 'Sikh Awareness Society'
Sangat Ji, I hope you are all well, First of all I would like to thank you all for the support and that my blog wouldn't be a success without you all. I want to talk about a topic which has caught my eye and something that has been going on for a while. Grooming, Blackmail and Conversion!

The meaning of Kaur is princess, so how have we let our princesses become a target for these sex beasts who prey on the youth?

Sikh girls have been a main target for these sick and twisted men who feel it's ok to do what they have been doing, and this issue isn't recent, it has been going on for many years without reply. Within our own community there hasn't been much done to prevent this from happening. However I must add that it isn't just our community that has been targetted, young british white girls and other minorities have been targetted too.

Here is a news article which was published in Luton highlighting
the grooming and conversion issue, may i also stress that it is not all
muslims who do this, other people from other backgrounds
do take part in this grooming and converting process too.
The way that these dispicable men work is unimaginable, they go to extreme lengths in order to achieve what they set out to do. A known example that has been reported before is that these men would tend to spike drinks of girls, mixing a drug within the drink to make it seem as the drink was normal which makes the body to react in such a way that it leaves the person motionless, meaning that they cannot move their body at all. Once this has happened they would then rape the girl and take images of this in order to use them against the girl in a form of blackmail saying things such as if you do not convert we shall show your parents and family these indecent images, leaving the girl in a state of insecurity and making them feel as if they have no option but to convert because of the shame it would bring to the family. That would probably be the last you'd see of the girl. Another tactic used is that these horrible men (from all backgrounds not just a specific group) would start to groom the girls at a young age, mainly 12 to 13 year olds. The majority of grooming begins online with the various social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and MSN as it is easy to make a fake account and appear as somebody other than your actual self. They would groom them by buying them expensive gifts such as ipods, mobile phones and laptops making them feel special. Obviously a girl of 12 or 13 would be naive, easy to exploit because they are insecure and do not know about the world as you do when you get older. Once they reach the age of 16, they would persuade the girl to leave the house and run away with them, never to be seen again. How have we let this happen to our community? Where did we go wrong?

Not so long ago the Sikh Awareness Society covered a story of a young Sikh girl who had been groomed by what appeared to be as a muslim man and now she is still nowhere to be seen. The family have spent years worrying about their daughter and her whereabouts. Now answer this Sangat Ji, this victim of grooming, if it were your own sister or daughter wouldn't you do what you could to prevent this from happening to others? Wouldn't you fight to get your sister or daughter back? We must be aware of the world around us, it is a very dark world out there and we must be united as one to show the world we are a strong Khalsa Panth! We do not want our sisters to suffer the same fate that others have already suffered, we must rescue the sisters who have already fallen into this trap and bring them back to Sikhi! For the others we must create a full awareness in order to keep our sisters safe! I urge you all Sangat Ji to remain strong and united as one, so we can tackle this issue head on!

KPS Gill - Butcher of Punjab

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

As I was listening to the fantastic album Jago made by Immortal Productions (must buy to be honest!) I had started to think about our Sikh shaheeds with 1984 running through my mind, I had remembered that there was one sick twisted man who had his part to play in the thousands of Sikhs killed in Punjab during that time, One KPS Gill!

This is KPS Gill - Butcher of Punjab,
has the blood of thousands of Sikhs on his hands!
KPS Gill served as Director General of Police in Punjab during 1984 where he had clearly violated human rights claiming he was stamping out terrorism. Now tell me Sangat Ji does being an innocent Sikh man, woman or child make you a terrorist? This is what the Indian government at that time had thought of us! KPS Gill and his pathetic excuse of a police force would use tactics such as fake encounters where they would raid houses belonging to Sikhs to find the men who lived there, take them out then shoot them at point blank range making sure they had died, they would then place a gun next to them to create the illusion of a fake encounter with police. The police, who we normally seek security and protection from were killing us, all down to the orders of one KPS Gill. This man had extreme ways to torture and kill innocent Sikhs. He would do things such as forcefully make a Sikh naked and drop heavy wooden logs on the legs in order to break them. He would enforce the police to cut limbs off a Sikh, as I recently watched a documentary which i will get the name of soon, in a reinactment they had ripped out the eyes of a Sikh man, they would even go to the lengths of forcing a father by beating him then forcefully making him see his own daughter naked. These were the sick and twisted lengths that the Indian police force went to on the orders of the corrupt Indian government which till this day still shows an indifference to Sikhs!  They call him Supercop in India, A police officer that has killed a generation of innocent people is a supercop? What is even worse and a kick in the teeth to us Sikhs is that he was awarded the Padma Shri award which is the 4th highest civilian honour for his work in the 1980's.

This man had commanded the operation Black Thunder where again the police/army would storm Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple complex) to get rid of our lions of the Khalsa Panth where it is claimed that 200 men surrendered, 41 were killed and 2 committed suicide. Whether these figures are true I have no such idea but to storm our sacred shrine once again after the attrocities they caused the first time in Operation Bluestar clearly indicates that the Indian government would go to extreme lengths to eliminate the Sikh nation off the face of the earth. But as history has proven, we will not lie down and die, we shall keep fighting for Sikhi, people have tried and failed and will continue to do so! From what I've heard about the latest on this guy, he is back in Punjab and ready to halt the momentum and movement, this time he shall not succeed!

The reason why I write blogs such as this based on Sikh history is simply because I want to create an awareness for the people who do not know has happened to the Sikh nation over the years and order to remind the Sangat to never forget our history! To never forget how we have been treated by our so called 'motherland'.

Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale had said that we as a Sikh nation are slaves in India and I completely agree. The time for Khalistan has come! Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana has re-ignited the fire that was started by Sant Ji those years ago, we have built the momentum again and just like before, the Indian government fear us! We must unite as one under the Khalsa Panth and fight for our homeland Khalistan. Fight for justice!! Fight for our freedom!! Khalistan Zindabaad!! (Long live Khalistan)

Caste System?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Was again sitting here wondering about life and then it came to my attention that there is such a huge topic within the Sikh nation which has never been covered. The Caste System!

Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj abolished the Caste system
so why is it still around today?
My first question to you all is Why have we as Sikhs adopted the caste system in to our way of life?
In Sikhi there is no such thing as a caste system, we are all equal, all brothers and sisters under the father who is Waheguru Ji. The beloved Guru's have never adopted the caste system, Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj abolished the caste system so why do we still follow this? Is it a cultural ideology? Sure isn't religiously based!

There are many different castes which have been thrown in to the abyss of society. We have Jatt who are meant to be the highest class, Terkhan (apologies for spelling) which is sort of middle class, Chamar which is of the low caste and many more such as Saini and Bhaman. This caste system had originated from the Hindu nation within India where they had came up with a social hierarchy to distinguish what people's status was in their homeland. So why did we adopt this way of life?

In regards to Sikhi, we are all one, we are all equal and all Waheguru's children. So why do we start sniggering at others when we see somebody of a lower status? Personally I believe there should be no caste system at all, It is a pathetic way of life to think that you are better than somebody else.

Sangat Ji may I ask you this question. You go to Nagar Kirtans, Go to the Gurdwara, Go on protest marchs for Sikh human rights what do you see? I see brothers and sisters united under Waheguru Ji, I don't see a Terkhan or a Jatt, I see a Sikh! Our identity is Sikh not anything from that pathetic excuse of a social hierarchy so I urge you all to please abolish this from our way of life, remember that Waheguru made us as equals and equals we shall remain. You are all my brothers and sisters of Sikhi and nothing different!

Quote of the day

Here is a quote that struck me today, and I couldn't agree with it more.
Life is never about the people who act true in front of you, it's about the people who remain true behind you.
Thought I'd share this with you not only because it is true, but maybe you could learn this for yourself and apply it to yourselves, I know i can!

Not in my comfort zone!!

Hi there, first of all I'm finally free of the illness and feeling 100% now.

Now on to today's blog entry. I feel very much out of my comfort zone at the moment, well I'm lying, I've felt like that ever since I moved away from home. Don't get me wrong, love the university course but the place itself isn't my preference. It's a small town in the middle of nowhere, heck i hadn't even heard of Buckingham as a place till i actually visited it, stereotypically i used to associate it with where Buckingham Palace is (Duh).

The university itself is quite lovely, my subject that i study is top knotch and i am glad i decided to study further into Journalism now i know that this is the right thing for me. However I am a city man, coming from Birmingham I've normally adjusted to the fast paced environment. There are many shops, clubs etc where i can go to back home whereas in Buckingham there is just a Tesco..come on really? And your 'night out' there is either 13 high street or the OTM which to be quite fair to them have thrown some good parties. But still this is nothing compared to where I am from, I mean one tesco in the whole town, damn it must be a small place.

I also feel that the students I have come across do not know the real me with the exception of one, but I think that friendship fell apart in time majority of it being my fault and I do regret it but hey what can you do? Guess i just miss them! I'll admit I am a very shy person, especially in Buckingham i tend to shy away a lot simply because i do not know everyone well enough. I look around and see everybody getting along with each other, having a good time and i do sometimes think to myself why can't that be me? Why do i not fit in here? With the friends that i have made there i am very greatful for, but i still feel that the real me has yet to be unleashed there and people only know the quiet side of me. Considering how small Buckingham is you'd think everyone knows who you are, truth is i know people by name, but that would be about it. I don't even think people know my name there. Maybe it's my fault, maybe i'm just too shy, maybe i feel way out of my comfort zone that i keep the real me locked away just so i can get on with life there..Who knows? If you'd ask my friends back home in Birmingham they'd tell you how i really am, which would probably appear the complete opposite to the way i am in Buckingham. I'd like to fit in more amongst the students at the University, make my experience much more enjoyable but it's as if something is stopping me from doing so. Who knows maybe Buckingham will see the real me one day? Although at this current moment in time i doubt it!

1984 - Delhi Massacre

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Stil haven't fully recovered from my illness at the moment but as promised i will write about the Delhi genocide of the Sikhs.

A Singh had his Dastaar (turban) removed,
look how the police officer just watches on in the background!
On the 31st of October 1984, was the end of an era. Beant Singh and Satwant Singh had taken the courage and showed what true lions of the Khalsa Panth do when they assassinated the tyrant Indira Gandhi. They took revenge for the innocent Sikh men, women, children and the freedom fighters of the Khalistani movement who were killed during Operation Bluestar - Attack on Sri Harimandir Sahib (Golden Temple) complex. In the eyes of the Sikh nation, they had become heroes, in the eyes of the Hindu community which makes up most of the population in India they thought the opposite. The assassination of Indira Gandhi had sparked a national outcry for the blood of Sikhs. People such as your precious Amitabh Bhachan were urging people to kill Sikhs saying and i quote ' Blood for blood'. Sikh men suffered torture from all kinds of people, Police and mobs alike. They would remove turbans of the Sikh men and go on to kill them. Shops which were owned by Sikhs would be looted and set alight. Houses with Sikh residents would also be looted and set alight. Many thousands of Sikhs who survived the massacre had nothing left. Women who were left widowed where and what were they supposed to live on? We had lost an entire generation of the Sikh faith!

A young Sikh boy being burned alive by the Hindu mob,
how can you justify such actions?
During the days of the violence, many innocent Sikhs were killed. It is estimated that around 50,000 Sikhs were killed during the Dehli massacre! We lost an entire generation. Sikh men and boys were killed instantly in front of their wives, sisters and daughters in ways unthinkable. They would butcher the bodies of Sikh men and boys, they would burn them alive. The women of the Sikh faith would endure countless acts of rape, torture and even death itself. Sikh youth as young as 18 months were killed just because of the faith that they follow. How can the 'largest democracy in the world' allow this to happen? They were themselves in on the massacre with police refusing to help the Sikhs who were looking for someone to protect them, instead the police were bystanders to this, some even joined in on the killing of the Sikhs.

Listed below is a brief timeline of what occured during those days of the massacre.

 First day (31 October)

  • 9:20 am: Indira Gandhi is shot by two of her Sikh security guards at her residence, No. 1 Safdarjung Road, and rushed to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
  • 10:50 am: Indira Gandhi dies.
  • 11:00 am: All India Radio listeners learn that the two security guards who shot Indira Gandhi were Sikhs.
  • 4:00 pm: Rajiv Gandhi returns from West Bengal and reaches AIIMS. Stray incidents of attacks in and around that area.
  • 5:30 pm: The motorcade of President Zail Singh, who is returning from a foreign visit, is stoned as it approaches AIIMS.
evening and night
  • Organized and well equipped gangs of ruffians set-up by ruling Congress-I party workers set out in different directions from AIIMS.
  • The violence, including violence towards Sikhs and destruction of Sikh properties, spreads.
  • Rajiv Gandhi is sworn in as the Prime Minister.
  • Senior advocate and opposition leader Ram Jethmalani, meets Home Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao and urges him to take immediate steps to protect Sikhs from further attacks.
  • Delhi's Lt. Governor, P.G. Gavai and Police Commissioner, S.C. Tandon, visits some of the affected areas.

 Second day (1 November)

  • The first killing of a Sikh occurs in east Delhi.
  • 9:00 am: Armed mobs take over the streets of Delhi and launch a massacre.
Among the first targets are Gurdwaras, the holy temples of Sikhs, possibly to prevent Sikhs from collecting there and putting up a combined defence.
The worst affected areas are low income colonies like Trilokpuri, Mongolpuri, Sultanpuri and Palam Colony. The few areas where the local police stations take prompt measures against mobs see hardly any killings or major violence. Farsh Bazar and Karol Bagh are two such examples.

Third day (2 November)

Curfew is announced throughout Delhi, but is not enforced. The Army deployed throughout Delhi too but ineffective because the police did not co-operate with soldiers (who are not allowed to open fire without the consent of senior police officers and executive magistrates).
Mobs continue to rampage.

 Fourth day (3 November)

Violence continues. By late evening, the national Army and local police units work together to subdue the violence. After law enforcement intervention, violence is comparatively mild and sporadic. In Delhi the dead bodies of the victims of riots were taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi and Civil Hospital Mortuary Tis hazari, Delhi.
Here is a 10 minute video which i urge you all to watch, to gain a real understanding of the genocide.

28 years and the Sikhs still have no justice for those actions! This massacre was Hitler-esque, it was a genocide of the Sikh nation. May those who lost their lives in 1984 rest in peace, they are with Waheguru (God) now! But a question for the indian prime minister, Manmohan Singh.  A genocide has been committed towards the Sikh nation, You yourself are a Sikh, 28 years still no justice, Why are you not doing anything to put the people responsible behind bars? Your quick to put Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana on death row for killing a tyrant yet you turn a blind eye to the actions of the genocide carried out in 84, knowing who the culprits are, then you release them to walk the streets once more, and not bringing peace to those who suffered. Then you wonder why we have lost faith in the judicial system in India, saying that we were always secluded and treated differently to everybody else in India. 1984 - NEVER FORGIVE, NEVER FORGET!!

1984 - Operation Bluestar

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

I was lying down in my bed as I am ill and started to think about the dark history of June 1984. For those who do not understand what I am talking about please do read the rest of this blog to find out.

Operation Bluestar was a military operation ordered by the twisted Indira Gandhi who was Prime minister of India at that time to attack Sri Harimandir Sahib (The Golden Temple) in order to halt the growing Khalistani movement which was led by Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, arguably the greatest Sikh leader of the 21st century! Incase you are wondering, the Khalistani movement was the movement which was led by Sant Ji in order to gain a seperate state within India ( mainly askinf for the majority of Punjab) for the Sikh nation . It only seems fair as Pakistan was the homeland to Pakistani's, India was the homeland to the Hindu nation so why weren't we given Khalistan after it was promised to us by the government on more than one occasion? The Indian Army stormed the Sri Harimandir Sahib complex armed with weapons and tank vehicles however the brave Sikhs were also armed in order to defend the complex and to defend a nation! The brave lions of the Khalsa Panth fought vigorously against the Indian army which lasted from the 3rd June till the 6th June 1984. The total casualties of the army were 83 deaths and the number of civilian deaths at 492, though some independent estimates run as high as 1500. These civilians were innocent Sikh men, women and children as well as the freedom fighters of the Khalistani movement.

The Akhal Takht was desicrated by the Indian Army who fired at the sacred shrine with tanks. The Akhal Takht is the equivalent to Mecca for the Islamic nation or The Vatican which is the sacred shrine home to the catholics. Now tell me how would you feel if your sacred home of worship had come under attack and been desicrated by the orders of the government? Our living Guru, Guru Granth Sahib Ji again the equivalent to the Qu'aran or the Holy Bible was shot at by the Indian Army leaving bullet holes and damaging the holy scriptures. In addition, the CBI is considered responsible for seizing historical artifacts and manuscripts in the Sikh Reference Library before burning it down. When you hear the word Army you normally associate them with the words safe and protection, but on those three dark days we had them attacking us, how can this be justified? Here is an image of the damage done by the Indian Army on our sacred shrine, which even till this day fills me with a range of emotions, anger for the fact it actually happened, sadness for the fact that they could do it.

According to Joyce Pettigrew, in her 1995 book, The Sikhs of the Punjab: Unheard Voices of State and Guerrilla Violence: “The army went into the Darbar Sahib not to eliminate a political figure or a political movement but to suppress the culture of a people, to attack their heart, to strike a blow at their spirit and self-confidence.”

India which is meant to be known for being the 'Largest democracy in the world' praised acts such as this. Ask yourself this, If your spiritual home was under attack, if your nation was under attack, wouldn't you do something to prevent this? There is one clear message from this attack, the Sikh nation is not welcome in India. Time and time again they have tried to wipe out the Sikhs and have always failed. Never forget 84! Joke of the day!

Here's a joke i found rather funny and I thought i'd share it with you all.

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The driver says: "Ugh, that's the ugliest baby I've ever seen."
The woman walks to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: "The driver just insulted me." The man says: "You go up there and tell him off. Go on, I'll hold your monkey for you.

Yes i know probably not the best joke, but according to the Daily Record it is the number one joke! Enjoy reading the others on there, quite a few that did make me chuckle haha.

Happy Vaisakhi!!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Let me first begin by saying Happy Vaisakhi to you all, may Waheguru (God) bless you and your family on this prosperous day!

Vaisakhi is the festival which celebrates the founding of the Sikh community known as the Khalsa. It is celebrated on April 14 each year. On Vaisakhi day in 1699, Guru Gobind Singh summoned Sikhs from all over India to the city of Anandpur Sahib. At this gathering, the Guru called upon Sikhs to uphold their faith and preserve the Sikh religion. Guru Gobind Singh then lifted his sword and asked that anyone prepared to give his life for his faith to come forward. There was a big silence, but the Guru went on repeating his demand. One Sikh finally came forward and followed the Guru into a tent. Shortly after, the Guru reappeared alone with his sword covered in blood, and asked for a second volunteer. Another Sikh stepped forward and again the Guru took him into the tent, and re-appeared alone with his sword covered with blood. This was repeated until five Sikhs had offered their heads for the Guru. Finally, the Guru emerged from the tent with all five men dressed piously in blue. Guru Gobind Singh called the five Sikhs the Panj Pyare, the Five Beloved Ones.

The Panj Pyare were then baptized in a unique ceremony called pahul. Guru Gobind Singh prepared amrit (holy water) in a bowl using a short steel sword. Then the Guru's wife, Mata Sundri, added patashas (sugar crystals) into the amrit. After completing prayers, Guru Gobind Singh sprinkled the amrit on each of the Panj Pyare. The Guru then knelt before the five and asked them to baptize him as well. Here is an image below of the Panj Pyare and Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

We celebrate this prosperous day by going to the Gurdwara (Sikh temple) in which we pray, do seva and unite as a community to celebrate the birth of the Khalsa. We also normally do something called Nagar Kirtan which involves the leading of the Panj Pyare (Five beloved ones) followed by the Guru Granth Sahib (Holy scriptures) which is normally on a float, followed by the Sangat (Sikh community) where we would walk, singing holy hymns as a collective. Nagar Kirtan is done on a yearly basis again as part of the celebrations for this beautiful day.

May i once again wish you all a very Happy Vaisakhi and may Waheguru Ji bless you all.

Earthquake and Tsunami warnings in Indonesia

As i am sure you are all aware of the earthquake and tsunami warnings in Indonesia today, I can remember when the first tsunami happened on the 26th December 2004 and to just watch it on my television screen left me in complete shock and utter disbelief. If those were my emotions just sitting at home, I wonder how the people involved in the tsunami had felt? Losing everything from cars, homes, prized possessions and even losing their own life. I have experienced an earthquake before in Birmingham many years ago, although i felt the ground move it wasn't much of an earthquake to be worried about, but even then it brought about the shock factor, but not to the level of the extent of some places such as Japan and Asia in general in 2004.

Thousands if not millions of people have suffered at the hands of the vicious tsunami/earthquake disasters that have occured over the span of 8 years. Homes have been brought down to rubble, cherished possessions lost and never found, same with people..lost and never found. The rebuilding process in those countries are steady but the memory of the dreaded events will never be wiped away from anybody's memory. May those people who have lost their lives due to the natural disasters Rest In Peace.

Nobody deserves to go through such a terrible occurance such as this form of natural disaster. My thoughts and prayers are with those in Indonesia and may Waheguru (God) have mercy on them and protect them, they do not deserve to die/suffer in this way.
